You have two options for limiting or focusing your search:
Quick Limits and Full Limits.
Quick Limits
The Quick Limits feature allows you to apply a single
limit to a search from the basic search screen and from the titles results
list.

Please Note:
1.) Limits cannot be applied to Subject Heading, Author,
or Call Number searches.
2.) You must set search limits BEFORE choosing
a search type or entering search terms.
3.) Limits remain in effect until the Clear Limits
button is selected.

Full Limits
You may also choose to limit your results from a full
list of limit criteria simply by clicking the Apply Limits button
located on the search screen or the Post Limit button located
on the results screen. You may apply multiple limits to your search
and you may limit by:
- year
- language
- format
- type
- location
Limit By Year
To limit your search by year, type the year in the Year
text box in the format YYYY. Then click the appropriate radio button
for the date or date range that you want to find.
For example, to limit your search to one year, type the
year in the Year text box, and click the equal sign (=) radio button.

To find all texts published before 1860, type 1860 in
the text box and then click the radio button next to the less than symbol
(<).
To limit your search by a range of years, type the earliest
year in the Year text box, click the Range radio button, and type the
latest year in the Range text box
Limit By Language(s)
To limit your search by language, scroll though the available
language limits using the up and down arrows. Click on the desired language
to highlight it. You can select more than one language by holding down
your CTRL key.
Limit By Format or Type
Format and Type are used to describe the nature of the
material you are looking for. For example, you can limit to the "format"
map, motion picture, video - DVD / VHS, electronic resource, etc. Or
you may choose to limit by the type of material: book, serial, archival/manuscript
material, etc.
Use the up and down arrow keys to browse the various media and types available.
Click the desired items to highlight. You can select more than one at
a time by holding down your CTRL key.
Limit by Library Location
You can limit your search by library, or by individual
locations within a certain library. Use the up and down arrow keys to
browse the library locations that are available. Click the desired location
to highlight it. You can select more than one location at a time by
holding down your CTRL key.
Note that some library locations serve as "umbrella" locations. For example,
choosing All Law Library will automatically include the sub-locations
Law Library - Electronic Resources, Law Library - Reference, Law Library
- Reserves, etc.
