Relevance Ranking: Help
Keyword Anywhere and Keywords Combined
searches result in a list of titles ranked in order of relevance.
Colored bars indicate how relevant each item is to your search:

Relevance ranking is determined by one or more of the following:
-
how many of your terms appear in the record
-
which field(s) of the record contain your terms
-
the proximity of your search terms to each other
in the record
The highest weighting available for each field in SUMMIT is 500; the
lowest is 20. Weighting can be adjusted in increments of 20 throughout
this range. For example, subject and title fields have weightings of
500, as these areas generally contain the most useful keywords.
The presence of your keyword(s) in any of the heavily weighted fields
would cause such results to rise to the top of your results list. If
your search words appeared in fields that were weighted less heavily,
such as place of publication, the result would appear lower in your
results list.
